Neither the Palestinians nor especially the Zionists will ever agree to any compromise. The Zionists are intent on ethnically cleansing all Palestinians be they muslim or christian from Gaza and the West Bank falsely claiming it’s all theirs by divine right! Tha only possible solution and one that will never be implemented is for a truly international force be deployed in the disputed territories to end the genocide and remove all the perpetrators of this horrific situation to the ICC.

That’s not true - nowhere in Israel’s constitution is killing all Palestinians an aim. You can’t say the same about Hamas - it’s original charter reads: “The Day of Judgment will not come until Muslims fight the Jews, killing the Jews, when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees, and the stones and trees will say: O Muslim, O servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him…”

Hard to blame Israel for seeking to destroy an entity with these aims.

Just one quote: Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu:

"The army must find ways more painful than death for the CIVILIANS in Gaza. Killing them is not enough." I can’t verify its veracity, but if true, is very damning.

They did vote for hamas and supported the October 7 attacks. Hard to cast Gazans as innocent civilians.

It isn't a betrayal of Israel. The UK has been very patient with Israel since it began its response to the Oct 7 atrocities. But that response has transformed into a policy of wiping out the population of Gaza and encouraging settler activity in the West Bank.

Threatening starvation is not an acceptable military action, it's a war crime. Moving the civilian population of Gaza to what would be a concentration camp in all but name would be a war crime.

Israeli is no longer the innocent party. It is committing genocide. Starmer's action is a reminder to Israel that ending the blockade and returning to a two state solution is the only roadmap for peace for everyone in the region and our support is contingent on that.

I’m not a Labour supporter and I have found Starmer to be disappointing on the same grounds you do. But this decision has cut the Gordon knot of Palestinian statehood. We’re no longer trapped in a convention where ‘all the pieces must be in place’ before we contemplate the possibility of a State of Palestine: a convention pretty well guaranteed to ensure it never happens.

There’s now a gauntlet before Netanyahu: clear your act up or these particular consequences will happen. Bibi faces a challenge to produce visible improvement in on Israel’s legal duty to deliver aid.

Will it keep everyone happy? Of course not. But acting to keep everyone happy is pretty well the definition of managerialism. There’s more position in this stance than you give credit for.

They probably voted for Hamas as it gave them a voice, but I would seriously question whether the population as a whole were in favour of the Oct 7th attacks. Palestinians have been subjugated and treated as second class citizens under apartheid conditions for tens of years. I am no fan of muslim or any religion but any peoples need to treated fairly and justly.
